Rescue, Purr, Repeat: Life with Our Barn Kitties
We’ve got a bit of a reputation around here—and not just with the neighbors. The cats have figured it out too: if you’re a stray or a scrappy little kitten looking for help, our farm sanctuary is the place to be.
It feels like almost every week, another whiskered friend shows up at our doorstep. Some are tiny kittens, barely old enough to open their eyes. Others are older, tired, and just looking for a safe spot to rest. No matter how they arrive, we do everything we can to make sure they’re safe, healthy, and loved.
So. Many. Kittens. 😿
The sad truth is, there’s a big stray cat problem in our area. Unfixed cats keep having more kittens, and those kittens have kittens... and the cycle keeps going. A lot of the babies that find their way to us are sick, hungry, or covered in fleas. Some are all alone. They need help fast.
Little kittens—especially the itty-bitty ones—need round-the-clock care. Warm blankets, bottle feeding every few hours, meds for their sniffles, and sometimes even help learning how to eat real food or use the litter box. We’ve had kittens with eye infections, colds, tummy bugs—you name it. But we’ve also seen those same kittens grow into happy, fluffy, curious little explorers. 💛
Snip Snip, Save Lives
One of the biggest ways we can help is by getting every single one of our cats and kittens fixed—aka spayed or neutered—as soon as they’re ready. It helps stop the endless cycle of stray cats and keeps them healthier too.
We always encourage folks to spay and neuter their own pets and support local TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) programs. It’s one of the kindest things you can do for cats in your community.
Barn Cats: The Real MVPs
All of our cats live their best lives as barn cats once they’re healthy and strong enough. And let us tell you—they love it.
Being a barn cat means having the run of the place. They climb beams, nap in the hay, chase mice, sunbathe, and patrol the fields like little furry supervisors. Every cat has a job (mostly napping and pest control), and they’re so proud of it. 😺
We make sure they’re well-fed, loved, and taken care of. They may not be lap cats, but they still get snuggles (on their terms, of course) and lots of attention. Some of them even follow us around like little shadows while we do chores.
Want to Help?
If you love cats as much as we do, here are a few ways you can make a difference:
-
Spay and neuter your pets—seriously, it saves lives.
-
Support your local rescues (or us!) with donations, supplies, or time.
-
Adopt a barn cat if you’ve got a safe outdoor space—these kitties are pros at keeping pests away and stealing your heart.
Thanks for cheering on our barn kitties. Every rescue is a reminder that even the smallest paws can make a big mark. 💕
