Kiba: The Goofy, Hat-Stealing, Camera-Loving Ex-Amish Horse

If you’ve ever visited our sanctuary, there’s a good chance you’ve met Kiba—the horse with the biggest personality and the most mischievous smile. Kiba is not your typical horse. He’s goofy, charming, and, quite frankly, the kind of horse who will steal your hat when you're not looking—just for fun.

Kiba’s journey to the sanctuary hasn’t been an easy one. Before he found his forever home with us, Kiba spent much of his life in an Amish farm, where he worked hard as part of a team of horses. While his life there was full of purpose, it was also filled with the kind of grueling work that left little room for play. But now that Kiba is free, he’s decided to make up for lost time in the most hilarious ways imaginable!

Kiba’s favorite pastime? Stealing hats. Seriously, this horse has a talent for sneaking up behind you and snatching whatever is perched on your head before you even know what’s happening. Whether it’s a cozy beanie, a sun hat, or a baseball cap, Kiba will make it his mission to give it a good chew or toss it around, just to see the look on your face. And let’s not even get started on gloves. Kiba has a particular fondness for snatching gloves right off people's hands. It's almost like he thinks it’s a game—a very fun, very Kiba-ish game.

But it's not just hats and gloves that Kiba loves—he’s also a little attention hog. Kiba will follow you everywhere, trotting along behind you like a goofy puppy. Need to go to the barn? Kiba’s right there, taking every step with you. Want to check on the other animals? Kiba is there, right by your side. He’s the kind of horse who will ensure you never walk alone, not because he’s needy, but because he genuinely wants to be wherever the action is.

And let’s not forget about Kiba’s love for the camera! While most horses shy away from the lens, Kiba is the complete opposite. He’ll pose for photos like he’s auditioning for a movie role, giving the camera the biggest, goofiest grin you can imagine. He knows exactly how to work the camera, always looking his best—whether he’s mid-step or caught in one of his signature hilarious moments. Kiba’s antics are impossible to miss, and his love for the spotlight makes him an easy favorite around here.
